Overacter Monophonic Analog Synth

The Overacter is a monophonic analog synthesizer effects pedal designed for guitar and bass. It transforms your instrument’s signal into a thick, synth-like voice, reminiscent of vintage analog synth tones from the 70s and 80s. It is 100% analog, with no presets, no menus, and no latency.
At its heart, the Overacter is an octave synthesizer with a square-wave voice and up to four synth layers:

  • One octave up
  • One octave down
  • Two octaves down
  • The base signal (transformed into a square wave)

It tracks single notes monophonically (not chords), responding best to precise, clean playing. The result is a rich, harmonically complex tone perfect for synth leads, bass lines, or glitchy textures.
The Overacter gives you hands-on control over each voice in the mix:

  • Level – Master output volume.
  • Filter – A low-pass filter to tame brightness or add warmth.
  • Base – The volume of your square-wave fundamental pitch (no pitch shifting).
  • Sub – Controls the level of the one-octave-down signal.
  • Down 1 – Adds a deeper, two-octave-down voice.
  • Up 1 – Adds a sharp, buzzy octave-up signal (via analog frequency doubling).

These controls let you build layered synth tones, from deep and growling to fizzy and chaotic.

  • The tone is gnarly, gritty, and aggressive, yet can be dialed in to be smooth and warm.
  • Its square wave character gives it a chiptune, 8-bit, or retro synth edge.
  • Works great for lead lines, bass fuzz synth, and experimental tones.

Note: Since it's monophonic, chords will result in glitchy or unstable tracking. Best results are with single-note lines, neck pickup, and rolled-off tone for smoother tracking.

The Overacter is not a pitch shifter or octave pedal in the traditional sense—it's an analog synth generator in stompbox form. With carefully dialed settings, it can sound like:

  • A Moog-style bass synth
  • A retro arcade machine
  • A fuzzy guitar with robotic overtones

It’s a unique and inspiring tool for players looking to push their tone into synthetic, gritty, and otherworldly territory.
